Lift up thy eyes round about, and see: all these are gathered together.
- Isaiah 60:4 (DRB)
We stand quietly in the elevator, eyes down, passing the moments until our desired floor arrives. Yet a simple question can begin a conversation.
My parents were everyday evangelists and often divinely found themselves beside someone in search of God. One time they even witnessed to a woman they met in an elevator!
Prayer
Lord, help us to notice the people around us, even those we don't know personally. Open doors, mouths, and hearts in good ways.
Quote
Do everything for the love of God and His glory without looking at the outcome of the undertaking. Work is judged, not by its result, but by its intention.
// St. Padre Pio (1887-1968)
Thought
What might one say briefly that could point someone towards God? Consider preparing an "elevator speech" that could turn someone's eyes heavenward.

My first devotional book will be published this fall! Minding Mom 365: A Caregiver's Devotional Story has 52 brief devotions based on the year I spent with my mom after my dad passed away unexpectedly. It will make a great gift for the caregiver you know.
A Canadian friend told me that she once sang the New Zealand national anthem in the indigenous Maori language while on an elevator in Cleveland, Ohio!
