Practicing Non-Random Acts of Kindness

Writer: Lisa LivezeyLisa Livezey

One who has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the saints’ feet, helped the afflicted, and devoted herself to doing good in every way. - I Timothy 15:10 NRSV

Helping the afflicted sounds to me like the work of caregiving. Are you someone who cares for others every day?

Caregiving is not glamourous, but every moment of service is like a single panel of glass in this chandelier. Each systematic, regular, continuous, constant, methodical, specific act of daily care joins together in an orderly, patterned way and radiates out beautiful light.

The chandelier is anchored securely from Above. The light that radiates from within is powered from Above as well.

Prayer

Father from above, thank you for being our anchor and our light as we care daily for the needs of those around us.

Quote

We can do small things with great love.

//St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997)

Thought

What can feel like daily drudgery, when done faithfully and with kindness, adds up to an eternal weight of glory.

"If you are a caregiver for someone in your life, this book is for you. Having been in charge of my mom's care for the last seven years, it's reassuring to know that other people have traveled this path and are willing to share their hard-earned wisdom."

~ Amanda Lauer, author and caregiver

Neal Lozano, Jacqueline Harper, and I engaged in a poignant dialogue surrounding the story of a woman healed from twelve years of hemorrhaging. The woman verbalizes her belief that Jesus can heal her and merges into the throng to merely touch His cloak. Listen here.
