Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
- John 16:7 (KJV)
We spoke first of the brilliant face of God, then the approachable face of Jesus, and now we consider the inner face - the One residing intimately within the baptized Christian. The Holy Spirit.
He is known as the Truth, the Counselor, the Advocate, the Comforter, the Helper. He is always with us. As we dwell in His presence, we gain spiritual sight, and abiding solace.
Prayer
Oh God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit instructs the hearts of the faithful, grant, that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation. Amen.
Reflect
Which characteristic of the Holy Spirit - Truth, Counselor, Advocate, Comforter, or Helper - most resonates with you today?
